Our City Red Bus design is celebrating one of the most iconic features of London, which has become symbol of the city . The term bus comes from the Latin word “omnibus”, meaning “for all.” The first engine powered double decker bus appeared in London in 1923. But did you know that buses in London date back to 1829 and were horse drawn? There had been stagecoaches for many years beforehand but with this new service, introduced by George Shillibeer, tickets could be purchased at any point on the route.
